Propane Gas SAFETY page!

These are the things YOU should know AND how to respond:

Propane Gas or Liquified Petroleum Gas (LP Gas) is one the safest, cleanest burning forms of energy.

If YOU smell Propane Gas, use your 3 senses:

SMELL: It is a distinctive, rotten egg odor.

SIGHT: In some cases, a white cloud could form from a propane tank (s) or propane gas line. Also, this can be discribed as a mist, blowing "dust", rotten vegetation, nicotine stain and a bubble format. This type of substance should raise a red flag to someone.

SOUND: An unusual roaring noise, hissing or whistling, near the propane tank(s) or the gas lines.

THIS is what to do if you suspect a leak:

MOVE: Yourself and others to a safe environment, like your neighbors house.

CALL: Walter's Propane 413-665-2211 IMMEDIATELY! For others that might view this sight and are not a Walter's Propane customer, contact YOUR propane supplier IMMEDIATELY! If no response and depending how your life or property might be threatened, you NEED TO CALL 911 FOR YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT! DO NOT light matches, use a telephone, switch on /off appliances, flick on light switches near the propane odor situation!

Always remember, a full service propane gas company is always the number one choice for a response and NOT a discount propane/oil company.
